So far this year Mitchellson are proud sponsors of:

  • Irish heritage, Supporting young Irish musicians and Irish composers: Irish Heritage is a voluntary arts organisation established in London in 1974 to promote the appreciation and understanding of classical music performed by young Irish musicians in Britain and to introduce music composed by Irish composers to a wide audience. It is the only Irish arts organisation in Britain dedicated to helping young Irish musicians through their continuing education and the early part of their careers. This is when their need is greatest.
  • London Irish Vintage club – London Irish Vintage Charity Day The London Irish Vintage Club was formed in 2011 and since its inception has raised over £625,000 for various Charities. Charites such as Meadow House Hospice, Acton Homeless Concern, Caritas St Joseph's, Macmillan Cancer support, St Luke's Hospice Kenton are some examples that received funding. Mitchellson are proud sponsors of the Annual London Irish Vintage Club Rally and Family Day.

HSQE
In recent months we have replaced the last of our older HGV'S with new Euro 6 models, meeting the LEZ (Low Emission Zone) standards for control London and the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) standard which is being introduced in October 2020. The new trucks are also more fuel efficient, helping to reduce emissions.

Due to a recent spate of incidents within the construction industry Mitchellson have decided to introduce anti wrap taglines on all their projects with the aim of eliminating the risk of wrapping when carrying lifting operations. By building this simple product into our safe systems of work we are helping to make our sites safer places to operate in.

Mitchellson again had a float in the St Patrick’s Day Parade in London supporting the annual event and the wider Irish community celebrations.

Community Support & Involvement - Battersea Power Station Phase 2 Football Tournament
BPS Football Tournament – Mitchellson’s team narrowly lost out in the final to Skanska, with all proceeds of the BPS Phase 2 Football Tournament going to Groundwork, the community charity with a green heart.

Individual Awards
Our team members continue to attract positive attention and win local project awards for health, safety & environment performance and considerations. The most recent being Larry Gavin – award received in March for cooperative working and environmentally friendly mind ensuring all drivers turn off engines whilst lying idle. Minimising local air pollution and consideration for our neighbours. Well done Larry.

External Assessments

  • ISO, SpeCC & Achilles Building Confidence Audits at the end of 2016 went very well and we successfully retained compliance with all standards and accreditation schemes. In 2017 we will begin the process of transition to the revised ISO 14001 & ISO 9001.
  • FORS Gold Renewed for another 12 months.

Over 1 million man hours without a RIDDOR incident
Mitchellson is very pleased to be able to report that we have exceeded 1100,000 man hours without a RIDDOR it testament to all the efforts from our project teams and workforce in implementing and maintaining high standards of health & safety on our projects.

Stay Safe.

Mitchellson’s behaviour based safety training scheme (Stay Safe) is going strong with more site based sessions being booked faster than ever. The principle behind the scheme is to encourage understanding of choice and consequence and improving working environments by making better choices at the work place. If your project requires Stay Safe training make sure you submit a requisition to Zoe Bryant so the necessary arrangements can be made.

Hand Arm Vibration Chart.

New HAV chart has gone live on the company server making the control and management of vibration exposure more efficient. The old stickers were not working as well as had been hoped due to the working environment so will be phased out over a period of time. All project teams are encouraged to use the new chart.

Face Fit Testing.

Two further members of the HSQ&E team (Tom Begley & Mike Gleese) have been trained in Qualitative Face Fit Testing meaning even more operatives can be trained and tested in the use of respiratory protection equipment and the dangers of construction dust. If your project requires face fit testing make sure you submit a requisition to Zoe Bryant so the necessary arrangements can be made.
